Call for Entries: Sehsüchte 2016
From April 20 to April 24, 2016, the 45th Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival in Potsdam-Babelsberg (next to Berlin) will be proud to present films from students and amateur filmmakers from all over the world. The high-profile members of the jury will award the best works with prizes totalling up to 40,000 Euros.
This year’s festival motto S.P.A.C.E. shows the essence of Sehsüchte: To provide room for interaction between filmmakers and cinephiles, a creative cosmos with no end to new ideas. It is a space to get lost in thrilling films, only able to leave the screen for a refill of popcorn. Through the motto S.P.A.C.E. we want to make room for genre films.
So this year, for the first time, we will add a genre film section. Babelsberg has a long history of genre films, from early horror films like “the cabinet of Dr. Caligari” or science fiction classics like “Metropolis”, up to recent blockbuster productions. But we don’t want to dwell in memories, but give a stage to young genre filmmakers. Whether horror, action, fantasy or even martial arts - we are looking forward to creative projects.
Submissions are now being accepted for both short films and full-length films in the following categories: feature film, documentary, animated film, genre film, music videos, as well as films for children and teenagers.
All students and amateur filmmakers are eligible to participate! We also accept film debuts.
The Producer’s Award honours the best production value in the making of a film. Students at any film academy in Germany who have acted in the capacity of producer of a film are eligible to win the award.
Junior authors are invited to apply for the script award. All screenplays for movies with a duration of 45 minutes onwards can be submitted.
The Pitch! competition offers the possibility to submit concepts (in form of an exposé) in the categories feature film, documentary as well as serial and TV show. The participants then present their ideas to an audience.
Please pay attention to the festival regulations and technical requirements for playback formats and digital storage devices. You can find both on our website.
Registration: The online application form as well as further information can be found at www.sehsuechte.de
